My Egyptian neighbour passed this recipe to me and I have been making since then and everytime i make it doesn't even last for 10 mins.
INGREDIENTS:
- Sooji / Rawa / Semolina - 500 gms
- Coconut powder - 1 1/2 glass
- Butter - 250 gms
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Milk - 1 glass
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
- Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
- Sugar - 2 glasses
- Water - 2 glasses
- Mix together semolina, coconut powder, butter, sugar, baking powder, milk and vanilla essence with your hands.
- On a flat baking tray spread the mixture evenly and make cuts of desired shapes.
- Place an almond in the centre and press slightly.
- Bake in a pre heated oven for 30 mins at 180 deg centigrade.
- Make a syrup with sugar and water .
- Into the baked burfees Strain and pour the sugar syrup.
- Rest the burfees for 1 hour.
- Remove one by one along the cuts on the basbousa very carefully.
- On a serving plate drizzle a tsp of honey and place the basbousa.
- Ready to serve.
